Creatine is possibly safe when taken long-term. Doses of up to 10 grams daily have been used safely for up to 5 years. Side effects may include dehydration, stomach upset, muscle cramps, weight gain, muscle strains and pulls, diarrhea, dizziness, high blood pressure and liver dysfunction among others.
