The nearest stars to the Earth are in the Alpha Centauri triple-star system. It is about 4.37 light-years away. One of these stars Proxima Centauri is slightly closer, at 4.24 light-years.
Of all the stars closer than 15 light-years, only two are spectral type G, similar to the sun: Alpha Centauri A and Tau Ceti. The majority are M-type red dwarf stars.
Only nine of the stars in this are are bright enough to be seen by the naked human eye from the Earth. These brightest stars include Alpha Centauri A, Alpha Centauri B, Sirius A, Epsilon Eridani, Procyon, 61 Cygni A, 61 Cygni B, Epsilon Indi A and Tau Ceti.
Stars are very fascinating and beautiful to study. They are just more than twinkles in the sky the we adore every night.

That has to be those three, those ones that almost forms a perfect binary pair, and yes, everyone likes to point at them. They are the most familiar and commonly known stars to humans. Their names, Proxima Centauri, which is the dimmest and more closer to earth, then the two most brightest,  Alpha Centauri A and B. Correct me if am wrong, but I understand that these three stars are approximately 4.20 and 4.3 light years respectively away, putting them as the closest stars to earth other than the sun.

We should always remember that Alpha Centauri is a dual star system and they all orbit around a barycenter. Due to this, the nearest star to earth or the sun at any given time will largely depend on the position of any one of them in their orbit.

Alpha Centauri is the nearest star to the Earth. This isn't a single star- it's a triple star system- three stars bound together by gravity. This star has two main components Alpha Centauri A and Alpha Centauri B and the third one is red dwarf also known as Proxima Centauri. It is the closest neighbor to the sun amongst the stars.

The nearest star to Earth is the Sun. The Sun is the closest star to Earth, located an average of 93 million miles away. It is the only star that Earth has a direct relationship with and its gravitational pull is the primary force that keeps Earth in orbit.
