1 Joule = 0,24 calories. Calories are usually used for food, it represent the energy needed to increase 1 deg Celsius temperature of 1 gram water in 1 atm pressure. While joule is defined as energy used by a force of 1 Newton to move 1 meter.

1 calorie is 4.184 joules ,  which is usually rounded to 4.2 joules in most physics textbook for better calculations when doing the numericals

It is a standard value of having 0.239006 calories for one joule. You can also divide the energy value by 4.184. It is how the value is computed.

1joule = 4.2 calorie normally but it depends on which system you are measuring .for kilocalorie ,gramcalorie 4184 and 4.184 respectively .

1 Joule is 0.239 Calories. Joule and Calorie both are units of energy. 1 Calorie is around 4.2 Joules. This is how Joule and Calorie are related.

1 joule = 4.2 calories

This is the approximation in most lessons and physics textbook for plane and clear explanation and understanding

1 Calorie is equal to 4.184 Joule which is taken as 4.2 Joule for calculation purpose. So that calculation can be made easy.

                 1 Calorie = 4.184 Joule
                 1 Calorie ~ 4.2 Joule

A standard conversion in the International System of Units is that one calorie equals 4.186 joules, which is the amount of energy released as heat to raise 1 kg of water by 1 degree Celsius. As heat is a form of energy, it can be converted into joules. If there are 4.186 calories in a joule, then there are 0.2389 calories in a joule. To find calories per joule, divide calories by joules: 1/4.186 = 0.2389 cal/joule. Since 4,186 joules are equivalent to one calorie, it is the number of calories in one joule.

1 calorie = 4.184J

Divide both sides by 4.184.

1 calorie ÷ 4.184 = 4.184J ÷ 4.184

1/4.184 calorie = 4.184/4.184 J

0.239006 calorie = 1J
