Although fish do not require complete darkness to sleep, it is better to offer them with the same degree of darkness as they would in their natural environment. They may sleep when exhausted if the lights are on, but sleeping in darkness is healthier for their sleep and overall health.

Yes fish need light off at night, because fish need to rest like other animals. fish lack eyelids so they require sufficient dark environment for them so that they can sleep and rest. fish need both light and darkness to survive.

Fish don't necessarily need complete darkness to sleep, but it's best to provide them with the amount of darkness they would have in their natural environment. They may sleep when tired if the lights are on, but it will be better for their sleep and overall health if they can rest in darkness.

I am going to have to say that fish themselves don’t require themselves to have lights turned off when they are sleeping and they don’t require darkness to sleep either.

Fishes are like humans, too. They do not need lights at night because they need time to sleep. I am sure they are going to freak out if it happens.

Aquarium fish does not require light, they prefer light off at night to have sleep. It is better to keep that light off at night so that the fish can have sound sleep without any stress that may be caused by the light.

Fish do not need lights off at night, but they do need a regular light and dark cycle to maintain their natural behaviors and sleep patterns. Providing 8-12 hours of light and 12-16 hours of darkness per day is recommended for most aquarium fish. Some nocturnal fish may benefit from dim or moonlight-style lighting during the night.

Aquarium fish do not need light and it is best that you turn it off during the night. Leaving the light on can cause stress to fish as they need a period of darkness to sleep. Too much light will cause algae to rapidly grow and make your tank look dirty. So the short answer is no, do not leave your lights on.

Fish, like any other living creatures, require a balance of light and darkness to maintain a healthy natural rhythm. While fish do not necessarily need lights off at night, providing a period of darkness is beneficial for them. Here are a few reasons why:

Circadian Rhythm: Fish, like many organisms, have an internal biological clock that regulates various physiological processes. Exposing fish to regular periods of light and darkness helps maintain their natural circadian rhythm, which promotes overall well-being and normal behavior.

Stress Reduction: Providing a period of darkness at night allows fish to rest and reduce stress. Continuous exposure to bright light can disrupt their natural behavior and stress them out, potentially leading to health issues.
