It's a misconception that diamonds sparkle like a rainbow but they don't. They do sparkle but it's more like a gray color. So its false!!

A fake diamond will have rainbow colours that you can see inside the diamond. "People have a misconception that diamonds sparkle like a rainbow, but they don't," Hirsch said. "They do sparkle but it's more of a grey colour. If you see something with rainbow colours [inside the stone], it could be a sign that it's not a diamond.

  • Real diamonds don't shine in the iridescent colors inside the stone. Instead, the white and gray tones shine on the inside of a real diamond.
  • Diamonds emit color when direct light hits the stone. This gleam of colors from the diamond is called "fire".
  • A fake diamond will not be able to tolerate heat resistance and will break but a real diamond will not make any difference.

From the inside, it gives shades of gray and white. The surface emits the reflection of the rainbow. It is the way how people can see the real diamonds in their hands.

The way that diamonds reflect light is unique: the inside of a real diamond should sparkle gray and white while the outside should reflect a rainbow of colors onto other surfaces. A fake diamond, on the other hand, will have rainbow colors that you can see inside the diamond as well.

Yes, diamonds can create rainbows due to their ability to refract light into its spectral colors. This effect is known as dispersion.

diamonds can create rainbows. when light passes through a diamond, it is refracted or bent, causing the different colors do the spectrum to separate and create  a rainbow- like effect. this effect is known as dispersion and is one of  the characteristics that make diamonds so highly valued in jewelry

Diamonds themselves do not create a rainbow effect. However when light passes through a diamond it can create a Prism effect which can result in a rainbow like display of colours this phenomenon occurs because of the way that light interacts with the diamonds internal structure. When light enters a diamond it is refracted or band because of the diamonds high refractive index this means that the angle of the light changes as it passes through the Diamond.
