In 2021, some states began to look into regulations to crack down on scalping of Pokémon cards. This included limiting the number of cards that could be purchased in a single transaction, as well as increasing the age requirement for purchasing cards. Some states have also proposed legislation that would make it illegal to resell Pokémon cards, as well as outlawing Pokémon cards and requiring a government issued photo ID to purchase them. However, none of these measures have been implemented yet.
