In my opinion it depends on the the company way of treatment, if the company have give the chance to grow my self in respect to higher my education and if they have a proposal to grow my earning depending on my qualification ,it is good to stay on that company up to 20 years, other wise it is better to change other environment.

I agree with you , also when you feel more comfortable in your work you will stay and never think of changing

It depends on the person if she will stay in the same job for more than 20 years. Others will feel that there is no thrill in growth if there is no chance of promotion on the job. For others, they will feel happy and contented with their job for that long that's why they are already satisfied with the kind of job they have. They will just stay on that job till they retire later.

Yes you are right , also if you are comfortable and satisfied with your job and you know that their is compensation when you retired it will be good to stay. The environment you are working in also plays a role because if it is good environment besides good promotions a person can stay in the same job.

Also as for people who work in public sector like to stick in their jobs more than 250 years because after they retired they get payed monthly salaries as retirement , and many people search for this.

For me I can stay for more than 20 years if the company can promote me from one position to another from time to time and if the promotions come along with a salary increment.

But if I stagnant at the same position from day one of my job to date then this becomes boring and one is highly recommended to look for greener pastures

It's true you can work for 20 years  in a company that has reasonable salary and you are being respected.

I think I cannot work for at least 20 years in a company. I can imagine myself working as a freelancer for some companies and working in a company regularly.

It depends on the person , but also staying in the same job for 20 years or more with good conditions has it's own benefits like rewards and compensation after you finish the work in this company .

but if you can't stay one or two years in the same job you can't get that compensation.

If that job is truely that person's passion and if he enjoys doing it and if the salary is also pretty good then I can see him being happy

If a person has a work for the retirement. If it was the same company it has many benefits. So no need to get out the work. There are many people who goes for work, even after retirement. Then how can you think of retirement after only 20 years of work.

what I meant with my question is not to retire after 20 years , as long as you can work why to retire after 20 years, what I asked is what you think about being in the same job more than 20 years ? not to retire after 20 years. Already took the first part of your answer.
more_vert
So long as you have experience and energy to work no need to retire.

If you're on your dream job for 20 years then congratulations because you've done well. But if you're working for 20 years and yet no investment, sorry to say but you've missed so much opportunities came your way. 20 years is so long for you to grow in a career.

If you don't have a choice to change because other jobs doesn't pay good and to get into other jobs you need to be supported then you will stick in your job.

the same job for more than 20 years.

Advantages:

Job security: Staying in the same job for a long time can provide a sense of job security, especially if the job is stable and the company is financially healthy.

Expertise: With years of experience in the same job, you can develop a deep understanding of your work and become an expert in your field.

Career advancement: By staying in the same job for a long time, you may have the opportunity to move up the career ladder, earn promotions, and take on additional responsibilities.

Retirement benefits: Many companies offer retirement benefits that increase with years of service, which can be a significant advantage for long-term employees.

Disadvantages:

Limited growth opportunities: If you stay in the same job for a long time, you may miss out on opportunities to learn new skills, take on new challenges, and grow professionally.

Stagnation: Doing the same job for many years can become monotonous and lead to a feeling of stagnation or burnout.

Obsolescence: If your job requires you to use specific technology or tools, staying in the same job for a long time without keeping up with industry trends and changes can make you obsolete.

Pay stagnation: In some cases, staying in the same job for many years can lead to pay stagnation, where your salary doesn't increase as much as it would if you switched jobs and negotiated a higher salary.

Ultimately, whether staying in the same job for more than 20 years is a good idea depends on your personal goals, the nature of the job, and the company you work for. It can be a great choice for some people, while others may benefit from seeking out new opportunities and challenges.

Staying in the same job for more than 20 years can be a sign of job satisfaction and loyalty. It can also mean that a person is comfortable and secure in their current role. However, it can also indicate a fear of change or a lack of motivation to pursue other opportunities. Ultimately, it is up to the individual to decide if staying in the same job is the right choice for them.

Before a person can stay in a particular work place for up to twenty years that means that the place is really good and paying well at times some people see it boring.

Being in the same job for over 20 years can have both pros and cons. It may provide stability, deep expertise, and opportunities for career growth within the organization. However, it could also lead to complacency or limited exposure to new experiences. Ultimately, it depends on personal goals, job satisfaction, and the opportunities for learning and advancement within that particular job.
