It sounds weird but this is what I am so puzzled about lately.

Through their gills, the majority of fish absorb oxygen from the water. However , an odd thing happened once terrestrial plants appeared: some species of fish envolved lungs to breathe air. They are  known as lungfish , and scientist believes that the lack of oxygen in the shallow lakes and rivers where they resided is what  led to their evolution.

You have a point here. They are not like frogs that can survive despite being covered by snow. It is a fun fact.

The reason is due to a lack of dissolved oxygen in the water which makes them breathe more easily.

This can be caused by lack of aeration or poor water quality

That is the reason why some aquariums or tanks with tubes for oxygen. Am I into the right rationale?
more_vert
Yes. The tubes also help to keep water moving within the tank/aquariums

I hope it is not to use a gas tank or something. It is not necessary, right?

There are a number of reasons they could show this behavior. These fish pop their heads above the surface for air to supply or supplement their oxygen needs. If a fish spending a lot of the time perhaps gasping and in apparent distress.

I agree. They need oxygen to stay alive despite soaking themselves in bodies of water or even in an aquarium.

The fishes popp their heads out of the water to take oxygen and breath and bubble is madr in the wallet when the fishes take the breath thats why they pop their face out

It is like humans that need to survive with oxygen in their system. I felt bad for some that were deprived with oxygen.

Fish were the first animals to have appropriate backbones when they first appeared 500 million years ago. However, they lacked fins and teeth. They resembled current tadpoles. Let's get back to the question. Some scientists claimed that the fish evolved that needed oxygen and popped their heads out to have it.

Fish Pop their head above water to breathe and counter low level of oxygen in the water due to lack of aeration or poor water quality.by doing so do they take a fresh breathe.

sometimes and some species of the fish behave like this
when the water is too dirty to breath
they pop their head out of water to get oxygen

Fish will often pop their heads above the water to take in the air. This is because fish need oxygen to survive, and they can get this oxygen from the air as well as from the water. Additionally, some fish may pop their heads above the water to look for food or to survey their surroundings.

The reason they are at the surface trying to breathe is due to a lack of dissolved oxygen in the water. The low levels of oxygen are mainly due to a lack of aeration or poor water quality, which can then cause the fish to stress.

Fish may pop their heads above water for a variety of reasons. They may be looking for food or trying to find a mate. They may also be trying to get a better view of their surroundings or to avoid predators. Additionally, some fish may be looking for a change in temperature or oxygen levels, or they may be trying to find a new home.

there are a few exceptions to this general rule. Some fish species, such as lungfish and mudskippers, have adaptations that enable them to survive in low-oxygen or stagnant environments. These fish have specialized organs that allow them to breathe air directly. Lungfish possess a lung-like structure that allows them to gulp air at the water's surface, while mudskippers have the ability to breathe through their skin and the lining of their mouth and throat.
