There is something wrong with the hardware itself or the software if the driver is not updated it will not work. Better bring it to someone who can understand something about the computer or the computer technician. They are capable to diagnose your computer's problem.

A dirty or scratched disc surface is the most common reason for a CD or DVD issue. If it's not fixed, Install a third-party DVD player and use a VLC player a free third-party player with DVD support integrated. Open the VLC media player, click and select the open disk and now you can play the video on your DVD.

There could be several reasons why your DVD is not working on your laptop: Driver issues: If the drivers for the DVD drive are outdated, missing, or corrupted, the drive may not work properly. Try updating the drivers from the laptop manufacturer's website or using the Device Manager. Physical damage: If the DVD is scratched or damaged, it may not play properly. Try playing a different DVD to see if the issue is with the drive or the disc. Power issues: If the laptop is not providing enough power to the DVD drive, it may not work. There could be several reasons why your DVD is not working on your laptop. Here are a few things you can check:

DVD Compatibility: Make sure your DVD is compatible with your laptop. Some laptops may not be able to read certain types of DVDs. Also, check if your laptop has a DVD drive or not.

DVD Condition: Check the DVD itself for any scratches or damage. Even small scratches or smudges can cause playback issues.

DVD Drive: Make sure your DVD drive is functioning correctly. Check to see if the drive is listed in the Device Manager and that the driver is up to date. You can also try cleaning the drive with a DVD lens cleaner.

Software: Check if your laptop has software capable of playing DVDs. Some laptops come with built-in software for playing DVDs, while others may require you to install third-party software.

Operating System: Make sure your laptop's operating system is up to date with the latest updates and drivers.

If you have checked all of these things and your DVD still isn't working, you may need to take your laptop to a professional to diagnose the issue

dirty or scratched disc surface is the most common reason for a CD/DVD issue when inserted into a computer. Check the disc for damage and confirm that the disc is compatible with your computer. Clean the disc and check for damage: Clean any dust or smudges from the disc with filtered water and a lint free cloth.

If your laptop's DVD drive is not working properly, you can try the following steps to troubleshoot and potentially fix the issue:

1. Check for physical issues:

   - Ensure there is no debris or dust on the lens of the DVD drive. You can use a DVD drive cleaning kit or a can of compressed air to clean it.

2. Check for driver updates:

   - Make sure that the drivers for your DVD drive are up to date. You can do this by going to the manufacturer's website and downloading the latest drivers for your laptop's DVD drive.

3. Test different DVDs:

   - Try using different DVDs to see if the issue is related to a specific disc. Sometimes, scratched or damaged DVDs can cause problems.

4. Restart your laptop:

   - A simple restart can sometimes resolve software-related issues.

5. Check Device Manager (Windows):

   - Open the Device Manager and check if there are any errors or warnings associated with your DVD drive. If there are, you may need to update or reinstall the driver.

6. Check System Information (Mac):

   - On a Mac, you can check the System Information app to see if the DVD drive is detected. If it's not listed, there might be a hardware problem.

7. Test in Safe Mode:

   - Boot your laptop into Safe Mode to see if the DVD drive works. This can help determine if a third-party software or driver is causing the issue.

8. BIOS/UEFI settings:

   - Check your laptop's BIOS/UEFI settings to ensure that the DVD drive is recognized and enabled. Access the BIOS/UEFI by pressing the designated key during startup (usually F2, F12, or Delete).

9. Uninstall and reinstall the DVD drive (Windows):

   - In Device Manager, you can try uninstalling the DVD drive, then restart your laptop to let Windows reinstall it automatically.

10. Run a hardware diagnostic (if available):

    - Some laptops have built-in hardware diagnostics tools that can help identify and potentially fix issues with the DVD drive.

11. Consider an external DVD drive:

    - If your laptop's internal DVD drive is beyond repair, you can use an external USB DVD drive as an alternative.

12. Professional repair:

    - If none of the above steps work, there may be a hardware issue with the internal DVD drive. In this case, you should contact the laptop manufacturer or a professional technician for further assistance or to replace the drive.

Keep in mind that with the declining use of physical DVDs, some newer laptops may not even have internal DVD drives. If your laptop doesn't have one, you may need an external DVD drive for disc-related tasks.
