Can we provide some water and food to the birds?

In our state, there is a man who keep a pot outside the house  with some water for the birds to have. Why cant we all have a try?

why not? it is a good idea to put food and water for birds, also for any animal we find like cats and dogs. once I find a dog in front of my house and he never leave for 5 days and I put food and water for it until the animal care association came and took him.

It is not in our culture to do it here. But it is a good idea that we can offer some water and food to these creatures. I used to do this only in the countryside.
