I only watched such things in the movie. It is based on the novel by Jules Verne "20 thousand leagues under the sea". It is about captain Nemo and his u-boat.

Within the pearl industry, the term "black" is used to describe any pearl with a dark body color. In reality a truly black body color just doesn't exist in world of pearls. Instead what we see are dark greens, blues, purples, silver, gray and the most coveted coloration

Yes, black pearls do exist. They are created by a type of oyster called the black-lipped oyster, and are found in the waters of Tahiti, the Philippines, and Australia. They are highly sought after and can be a profitable business.

There are black pearls, indeed. The oyster known as Pinctada margaritifera, which produces Tahitian pearls, is the source of these pearls. The Tahiti islands and other parts of French Polynesia are the main pearl-growing regions. Contrary to their name, Tahitian pearls are available in a variety of hues, such as peacock, grey, silver, and green.

The peculiarities of the mantle of the black-lipped oyster, which secretes the nacre that forms the pearl, are what give Tahitian pearls their distinctive colours. Tahitian pearls have a wide range of colours due to the interaction between light and the nacre structure. The unique and exotic look of these pearls makes them extremely valuable.
