Mount Everest's peak is the highest altitude above mean sea level at 29,029 feet which is around 8,848 meters.

Mount Everest, located in Nepal and Tibet, is usually said to be the highest mountain on Earth. Reaching 8,848 meters which is around 29,029 feet at its summit, Everest is indeed the highest point above global mean sea level—the average level for the ocean surface from which elevations are measured. But the summit of Mt. Everest is not the farthest point from Earth’s center.

Mount Everest is called the world's highest mountain because it has the "highest elevation above sea level. We could also say that it has the "highest altitude."

The highest mountain peak in the world is Mount Everest, which stands at a majestic height of 8,848 meters (29,029 feet) above sea level. It is located in the Himalayas, a mountain range that stretches across Nepal and Tibet.

Mount Everest is part of the Great Himalayan Range, which is home to many of the highest mountain peaks in the world. It is the highest peak in the world not only in terms of its elevation, but also in terms of its prominence, which is the vertical distance between the peak and the lowest contour line surrounding it.

The mountain was named after Sir George Everest, the British Surveyor General of India, who first identified it as the highest peak in the world in the 19th century. However, it was not until 1953 that the mountain was successfully climbed by Sir Edmund Hillary of New Zealand and Tenzing Norgay, a Sherpa of Nepal.

Since then, Mount Everest has become a popular destination for mountaineers and adventurers from around the world. Each year, hundreds of people attempt to reach the summit, and many of them are successful. However, the mountain is also known for its treacherous conditions, and many climbers have lost their lives trying to reach the summit.

Despite the challenges, the allure of Mount Everest remains strong, and it continues to attract people from all corners of the globe who are determined to conquer the highest mountain peak in the world.

Although Mount Everest in the Himalayan ranges is widely recognized as the highest mountain peak, it's worth noting that Hawaii's Mauna Kea, a million-year-old mountain in the Pacific Ocean, is taller when measured from its base at the ocean floor. While the highest point of Everest is higher than Mauna Kea, the part of Mauna Kea above sea level is less than half the height of Everest at 4205 meters. However, if measured from top to base, or "dry prominence," Mauna Kea is 500 meters taller than Everest, with a total height of about 9330 meters which is very interesting!
