Because failure can lead to disappointment and questioning one's self worth. And sometimes the feeling of failing will prevent you from doing things that are unfamiliar to you, hence, your growth could be prevented.

People may fear failure for a variety of reasons. One reason is that failure can lead to negative consequences, such as disappointment, disappointment, loss of reputation, or financial loss. Failure can also make people feel inadequate, or like they have failed to live up to their own expectations or the expectations of others.

Another reason people may fear failure is that it can trigger feelings of shame, guilt, or self-doubt. These negative emotions can make it hard for people to move on and try again.

Also, people may have learned to associate failure with negative consequences through their upbringing or past experiences. For example, they may have been punished or criticized for failing in the past, which can make them fear failure in the future.

Additionally, people may fear failure because they feel they have a lot riding on a particular outcome. For example, they may have invested a lot of time, money, or effort into a project, and the thought of it not being successful can be overwhelming.

It's important to note that fear of failure is a normal human emotion, but it can hold people back from achieving their goals and limit their potential. However, it can be possible to work through and overcome the fear of failure by changing one's mindset and perspective, seeking help, and developing a growth mindset.

I think people fear failure because of the disappointments that they would be receiving from that failure. The disappointments from their loved ones would totally break their hearts and that is why they fear failure.

The fear of failure  is rooted to the fact that " all people has pride and ego " . Failure is a consequence of an action which is predicated upon a choice made. We human beings have been and will always be given a choice , and that choices leads to a consequence. People fear failure due to the fact that they have experienced an adverse reaction to a choice they made in which they did not expect or like the outcome. So the fear of failure has and will always be predicated from the choices we made.

Because falling short of one's goals often results in feeling let down and causes one to doubt their own value. In addition, there are occasions when the fear of failure may keep you from engaging in activities that are outside of your comfort zone; as a result, your development can be stunted.
