For filipinos including me, we use white rice because it is the most common staple food in the filipino households and also used in many dishes such as fried rice or we make it to be our breakfast like porridge or what we called champorado.

White rice is the basic meal that is consumed the most often in Filipino homes, which is why we utilise it. Additionally, it may be found in a wide variety of foods, such as fried rice, and we often eat it for breakfast. They consist of things like oatmeal or what we used to call champorado. White rice is the staple meal in the majority of Filipino families; as a result, the majority of Filipinos, including myself, like to eat white rice.

different types of rice that are commonly used.

There are many different types of rice available, but some of the most popular varieties include:

White Rice: This is the most commonly consumed rice in the world. It has been milled to remove the outer bran and germ layers, giving it a polished appearance.

Brown Rice: Brown rice is less processed than white rice, as only the outermost hull is removed. It has a slightly nutty flavor and is higher in fiber and nutrients than white rice.

Basmati Rice: This is a long-grain rice that is commonly used in Indian, Pakistani, and Middle Eastern cuisine. It has a distinctive aroma and flavor and is often used in pilafs, biryanis, and other dishes.

Jasmine Rice: Another long-grain rice, jasmine rice is commonly used in Southeast Asian cuisine, particularly in Thai dishes. It has a slightly sweet aroma and flavor and is often served with curries and stir-fries.

Arborio Rice: This is a short-grain rice that is commonly used in Italian cuisine, particularly in dishes like risotto. It has a high starch content, which gives it a creamy texture when cooked.

The type of rice you use will depend on personal preference and the dish you are preparing.

I prefer the long grains because it doesn't melt  while cooking and it doesn't stick it self together and in Nigeria we are used to the white rice we use it on different occasions.
