Yes it is. To some extent, social media has been an opium to destruction to the youth, even though change is inevitable and we move with the ever changing technology, social media has brought some negative effects on the youth. Immoral behaviors, abusive language, drug addiction, pornography, traumatizing events like suicide, accidents and gender based violence are mostly circulated in the social platforms. In conclusion, it only depends how you use it. Self-control and self-awareness is required when using it.

The prevalence of social media in our modern world has had a profound impact on youth, both positively and negatively. On the one hand, it has provided an invaluable opportunity for young people to connect with peers around the world, to learn new things, to gain access to valuable resources, and to stay informed on current events. On the other hand, it can lead to a range of potential issues - from cyberbullying to over-sharing, to a sense of disconnection from real life. The way in which social media is impacting youth is complex. It can both enable and impair the development of vital life skills such as self-regulation, patience, judgment and empathy. It can also lead to an unhealthy preoccupation with appearances, materialism, and a false sense of community. It is therefore essential for parents, teachers, and other adults to understand and facilitate a healthy relationship between young people and social media. This can involve educating youth on the potential risks and creating healthy guidelines and boundaries. Additionally, adults must practice what they preach and model good digital citizenship. Finally, it is important to encourage youth to use social media to connect with others, express their thoughts and ideas, and use it in a way that is productive, positive, and meaningful.

Social media can be a tool or distraction: it depends on how you use it. Some parents/guardians are simply unaware of how social media usage can affect a child's mind. It can easily be helpful to research projects and inquire about the world. However, social media is used as a way to kill time and decompress, resulting in more engagement in unproductive activities and becoming addicted to it.

It all depends on the way you use it. Social Media helps when you need help with schoolwork, people working online, and many other things. Social media does cause some distractions to kids.

Yes it does, Social media is so widespread and already hard to filter now due to the technology and the quirkiness of people. Even though there are good contents online but still some people tend to entertain the bad ones that will toxify their minds.

The impact of social media on youth is a topic of ongoing debate. Some experts argue that excessive use of social media can have negative effects on mental and emotional health, including depression, anxiety, decreased attention span, and decreased face-to-face communication skills. On the other hand, others argue that social media can have positive effects, such as increased self-expression and access to information and resources. Ultimately, the impact of social media on youth depends on individual factors such as age, personal preference, and moderation in use.

It’s ruining our youth in some ways like girls being more insecure of their bodies because of what’s portrayed online or boys thinking things aren’t okay or that they aren’t a “man” because of what’s seen online.

I do not think that social media is ruining today's youth any more than rock and roll music ruined the youth in my parent's generation, or video gaming ruined the youth from my generation.

social media use can also negatively affect teens, distracting them, disrupting their sleep, and exposing them to bullying, rumor spreading, unrealistic views of other people's lives and peer pressure. The risks might be related to how much social media teens use.

The impact of social media on youth is a topic of ongoing debate. It has both positive and negative effects, and its influence can vary from person to person. Here are some considerations:

Positive Effects:

1. Connectivity: Social media allows youth to connect with friends and family, even if they are geographically distant.

2. Information and Education: It can be a source of information, news, and educational content.

3. Activism: Social media has been a platform for social and political activism, allowing young people to voice their concerns and advocate for change.

Negative Effects:

1. Mental Health: Excessive use of social media can contribute to issues like anxiety, depression, and cyberbullying.

2. Distraction: It can be a significant distraction from academic or other productive activities.

3. Filter Bubbles: Youth might be exposed to only certain viewpoints, limiting their exposure to diverse perspectives.

The impact of social media depends on factors like usage patterns, content consumed, and individual resilience. It's essential for parents and educators to promote responsible and balanced use of social media and provide guidance to help youth navigate its potential challenges.

Ultimately, whether social media is "ruining" youth is subjective and depends on how it is used and how individuals manage their online presence and interactions.
