The first Greek civilization was known as the Mycenaean civilization. It flourished in mainland Greece between the 16th and 12th centuries BCE. It was a Bronze Age culture, and is renowned for its art, architecture, and literature. It is also well known for its use of Linear B, an early form of Greek writing.
