The Vezina Trophy is an annual award given to the best goaltender in the National Hockey League (NHL) during the regular season.
The Vezina Trophy has been awarded annually since 1927 and is named in honor of Georges Vezina, a former goaltender for the Montreal Canadiens who died in 1926 from tuberculosis. The trophy is voted on by the league's general managers and is awarded to the goaltender who is deemed to have been the most valuable to his team during the regular season. Some of the most notable winners of the Vezina Trophy include Terry Sawchuk, Jacques Plante, Tony Esposito, Patrick Roy, Dominik Hasek, and Martin Brodeur.
