Binturongs (Arctictis binturong), also known as bearcats, are large, arboreal mammals found in Southeast Asia. They have a unique appearance with a long, prehensile tail and a shaggy black or dark brown coat. While binturongs are generally large and powerful, they do have some known predators in their natural habitat.
Large Carnivores: Binturongs may face predation from large carnivores such as tigers, leopards, and dholes (Asian wild dogs). These predators are capable of overpowering and preying on binturongs, particularly young or vulnerable individuals.
Birds of Prey: Binturongs, especially juveniles or individuals resting in exposed locations, can be vulnerable to predation by large birds of prey such as eagles or large owls. These birds have the advantage of flight and can swoop down to capture binturongs from above.
