The first ivorian player who won ucl medal was Yaya Toure' in 2008/2009 season with fc barcelona. Yay toure was integral part  of the 2008/2009 season for barcelona.   Also yaya toure because  of his qualities  on the field , he was pushed to play  as a centre back  due to barcelona  defensive injuries  ahead of that match.
