For a specific technology and engineering focus, Stevens Institute of Technology and New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) are top choices. Rutgers University-New Brunswick, the state's flagship public university, has a highly respected School of Engineering and strong programs in life and computer sciences. Rowan University and The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) also offer excellent undergraduate STEM programs.

For high schools, New Jersey is well known for its public county magnet schools.
