Candy corn was originally called "Chicken Feed". It was first produced in the 1880s by the Wunderlee Candy Company, and was marketed as a treat for chickens. It wasn't until the 1950s that candy corn was marketed as a human treat.

It was changed to candy corn in the 1950s. Before world war 1, most Americans didn't really see it has a human feed untill the name was changed and marketed has human treat.
