In 2011, the company acquired a majority stake in Chrysler Group LLC, the U.S. automobile manufacturer, and the two companies merged in 2014 to form Fiat Chrysler Automobiles. The merger created the seventh-largest automobile manufacturer in the world, based on total annual vehicle sales.
