In flight systems, the initialism "TCAS" stands for Traffic Collision Avoidance System. TCAS is a system that is used to prevent mid-air collisions between aircraft. It uses a combination of transponders and radar to detect and identify other aircraft in the vicinity and alert the pilot if a potential collision is detected.
