Hans Hlbein became the official portrait painter of King Henry Vlll of England in 1536 not in 1526. Holbein was a german artist who had already gained a reputation as a portrait painter in Europe, and was invited to England by Sir Thomas More.

In 1526 Hans Holbein became the official portrait painter of Henry VIII of England.

Hans Holbein was a German painter and draftsman who spent much of his career in England. He is best known for his portraits of Henry VIII and the members of his court. His portraits are notable for their realism and attention to detail. He was appointed as the King's Painter in 1526 and remained in this position until his death in 1543.
