Magnet are substances that generally attract object towards themselves, For Example lodestone.

Apart from iron, other elements such as cobalt, nickel, certain alloys, steel are attracted by magnet.

Hence, these substances that can be attracted by the magnet are referred to as magnetic materials.

Substances such as cooper, brass, wood, glass, rubber are not attracted by magnet, hence they are referred to as non magnetic.

A magnet is an object that can create a magnetic field. Magnets can attract and repel other magnets and objects made of certain metals, such as iron and steel. Magnets have two poles, a north pole and a south pole, and objects with similar poles will repel each other while objects with opposite poles will attract each other.
