A dromedary camel, also known as a one-humped camel, has only one hump. This hump is a reservoir of fat, which the camel can use as a source of energy when food and water are scarce. The hump is not used for storing water, as commonly believed. In contrast, the Bactrian camel has two humps, and each hump contains fat reserves.
