When Jefferson Airplane first formed in 1965, the band consisted of six members. The original lineup included Marty Balin (vocals), Paul Kantner (guitar, vocals), Jorma Kaukonen (lead guitar), Signe Toly Anderson (vocals), Bob Harvey (bass), and Jerry Peloquin (drums). This lineup recorded their debut album, "Jefferson Airplane Takes Off," before undergoing several personnel changes over the years. Grace Slick eventually replaced Signe Toly Anderson as the primary female vocalist, and the band went on to achieve significant success during the psychedelic rock era.
