The commemorative art installation of 888,246 ceramic poppies was set up outside the Tower of London in 2014. The installation was called "Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red," and it marked the centenary of the start of World War I. Each poppy represented a British or Commonwealth soldier who died in the war. The installation proved to be hugely popular, with millions of visitors coming to see it before it was taken down on November 11, 2014.
