Nigeria's film industry is known as Nollywood and is the second-largest film industry in the world, after India's Bollywood. Nollywood produces around 2,500 films per year, mainly in the English language, and has a huge following both within Nigeria and across Africa. The term Nollywood was coined in the early 2000s to describe the phenomenon of Nigeria's rapidly growing commercial film industry, which began in the 1990s.
