The term gallop denotes a gait of a four-legged animal, particularly a horse, in which the animal runs at full speed with a distinctive four-beat rhythm. During galloping, the animal lifts off all four feet from the ground, with one forefoot and one hindfoot landing before the other pair. The galloping pace is the fastest and most exhilarating of the horse's natural gaits, with speeds ranging from 25 to 30 miles per hour. Other animals, like cheetahs, greyhounds and deer, also gallop similarly when in a hurry.
