Hercules had to acquire the belt of Hippolyta, the queen of the Amazons. The belt was said to have been a gift from Ares, the god of war, and was a symbol of her power and authority. Hercules was successful in his mission and presented the belt to his cousin Eurystheus as part of his Twelve Labours.
