The ocean sunfish, also known as Mola mola, is indeed recognized for its remarkable fecundity and ability to produce a large number of eggs. A female ocean sunfish can release millions of eggs at a time. Estimates suggest that a single female can produce between 300 million to 500 million eggs in a single spawning event. These eggs are small and transparent, measuring only about 1-2 mm in diameter. However, despite the vast number of eggs produced, only a few of them survive to adulthood due to predation and other factors.
