Crabs specially those that live in the ocean, have a variety of predators that feed on them. Some of the common predator of crab include:-
1. Fish:- Many species of fish such as groupers, snappers and cod prey on crabs. Fish use their speed and agility to catch crabs, particularly the smaller ones.
2. Birds:- Several bird species, including seagulls, herons and cormorants, feed on crabs. They often wade in shallow waters or along the shoreline, where they can easily spot and capture crabs.
3. Octopus and Squids:- These cephalopods are skilled hunters and have been known to prey on crabs. They use their tentacles to grab and immobilize the crabs before consuming them.
4. Marine Mammals:- Some marine mamas such as seals, sea otters, and dolphins eat crabs. These animals have specialized adaptions to catch and eat crabs such as strong jaws and teeth or dexterous paws.
