Parliamentary or system of government is a type of governance in which the executive branch (Prime Minister and Cabinet) is accountable to the legislative branch (Parliament or Congress). In this system, the majority party or coalition in the legislature forms the government, and the Prime Minister is elected by the legislative branch. The Prime Minister and the Cabinet must maintain the support of the legislature to remain in power. This system is used in countries such as the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, and India.
