Network security refers to the measures taken to protect a network from unauthorized access, attacks, and data breaches. It involves implementing security protocols, such as firewalls, encryption, and intrusion detection systems, to prevent unauthorized access and protect against malware and other threats. Network security also includes monitoring network activity, identifying vulnerabilities, and responding to security incidents.

Network Security involves security controls or protocols to protect groups of computers from vulnerabilities and cyber attacks. Even portable devices, such as Bluetooth speakers, internet-connected refrigerators, and Alexa devices need to be implemented with security controls to protect them from vulnerabilities and cyber attacks.

Examples of security controls include firewalls, antivirus software, encryption, strong passwords or biometric systems, and setting permissions for authorized users to access things on computers. Firewalls determine the types of traffic or data that can enter individuals' or enterprises'' computer systems. Antivirus software monitors all of the computer files for any malicious activity and blocks any files that are attempting to harm the computer. Encryption hides data from unauthorized users who want to view that data. Implementing strong passwords or biometric systems can help prevent hackers from easily accessing websites, apps, or computer operating systems. Also, implementing strong passwords can help prevent hackers from using password crackers to steal weak passwords from authorized users that are registered on a computer. Lastly, setting permissions for authorized users is important because they are assigned to access information resources that only align with their job duties.
