How does the okapi use its long tongue?

The okapi uses its long tongue to reach and grasp leaves, shoots, and buds that are out of reach from its mouth. It also uses its tongue to clean its eyes and ears. The flexibility of its tongue also enables it to lick its own eyelids and scent glands.

The okapi's long, prehensile tongue is used to grasp leaves and other vegetation, which they then pull into their mouths for chewing. The tongue can extend up to 18 inches in length and is also used for grooming, cleaning their eyes and ears, and reaching difficult-to-access areas while feeding.
