At the time of his assassination, Abraham Lincoln was watching the play "Our American Cousin" at Ford's Theatre in Washington D.C. on April 14, 1865. John Wilkes Booth, a Confederate sympathizer and actor, entered the presidential box and shot Lincoln in the head, fatally wounding him.
