The best time to move in New Jersey is often during the fall, specifically from September to early November. During this period, the intense summer rush has subsided, which means moving companies typically offer better rates and you'll face less competition for available apartments. The weather is also comfortably cool, making the physical move much easier.

If your primary goal is to save the most money, the winter months from December through February are the absolute cheapest. Demand is at its lowest, but you risk dealing with snow, ice, and freezing temperatures that can complicate moving day. On the other end, May through August is the peak season. While you will find the largest selection of apartments then, it is also the most expensive and competitive time to rent and hire movers.

The best time to move in New Jersey is during the off-season, which generally runs from late fall through early spring. For the ideal balance of lower rental prices and manageable weather, aim for October, November, March, or April. During these months, demand drops significantly after the summer rush, giving you more negotiating power and better availability for movers.

If your top priority is saving money, the absolute cheapest months are January and February. Just be prepared to deal with potential snow and ice. You should avoid the peak season from May to August, as this is when prices are at their highest and competition for apartments is fierce.
