The most recent Google Penguin update is Penguin 4.0. It was released in September 2016 and is the first Penguin update since October 2014. Penguin 4.0 is a real-time algorithm which means that changes are now incorporated almost immediately after they are made. This update also has a more granular approach to ranking websites and is more focused on devaluing spammy links rather than penalizing sites for them.
