Deforestation disturbs the ecological balance thereby disturbing all the living organisms in one way or the other. Deforestation leads to global warming, soil erosion, droughts, habitat loss to wildlife, increase in concentration of harmful gases in atmosphere, etc. All the consequences of deforestation are unpleasant and disturb every lifeform.

One of the ways that deforestation negatively affects the environment is mudslides. In a healthy forest, the ground is completely covered with vegetation. Roots of this vegetation hold the soil in place, even in heavy rainfall. When you log off an area forest and remove the undergrowth, the soil is now no longer trapped in place by multiple root systems. When heavy rain happens, the soil is picked up by the flowing rainwater and carried downhill. If there are a number of days in a row with heavy rains, the remaining soil will become more and more saturated and heavier and heavier. IF there is enough rain, a critical point will be reached and entire walls of mud will break loose and flow downhill.

Deforestation is purposeful removal or cutting down of trees from the forests or other lands for facilitation of other human activities. This is the most dangerous act that bring about desertification and climate change. Human activities like mining, agriculture, grazing, constructions and many others have increased the rate of deforestation. Deforestation causes soil erosion, desertification and destruction of water catchment areas, climate change, damage to natural habitats that destruct the ecological food chain and increased green house gases that bring about global worming which is dangerous to kingdom Animalia.

can cause climate change, desertification, soil erosion, fewer crops, flooding, increased greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, and a host of problems for Indigenous people.
