I have seen heavy floods in the street near Exchange Place Station in Jersey City. Floods are the major risk in Jersey City. The downtown area is also more prone to flood. Columbus drive, Warren Street, Paulus hook, First street, Grove Street and Division Street are major flood affected areas in Jersey city. About 30 percent of these low lying areas are in flood risk every year and it accounts to about 21000+ properties in Jersey City. It is a major risk as electricity lines, telecommunication lines and water supply will get cut off during floods. Moreover homeowners insurance will not cover flood damages.

Low-lying areas like Downtown Jersey city and waterfront has the  major risk from flooding. These areas are in coastal locations along Hudson river. Areas between Division Street to Brunswick Street flood regularly during heavy rains.
