The modern English alphabet has 26 letters:

A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J, K, L, M, N, O, P, Q, R, S, T, U, V, W, X, Y, Z.

Each letter has a lowercase and an uppercase form.

Five letters are vowels: A, E, I, O, U.

The remaining 21 letters are consonants: B, C, D, F, G, H, J, K, L, M, N, P, Q, R, S, T, V, W, X, Y, Z.

Sometimes Y is also considered a vowel, depending on the role it plays in the word.
