The Olympics originated in Greece. The first recorded Olympic Games were held in 776 BC in Olympia, a city in the western Peloponnese region of Greece. The ancient Olympic Games were held in honor of the Greek god Zeus and featured a variety of athletic events such as running, wrestling, and chariot racing.

The Olympics originated in Greece. The ancient Olympic Games were a series of athletic competitions held in Olympia, Greece from the 8th century BC to the 4th century AD. The modern Olympic Games were inspired by the ancient games and were first held in Athens, Greece in 1896.

However, the idea of reviving the Olympic Games came from Pierre de Coubertin, a French educator and sports enthusiast.

While Egypt has a long history of sports, including chariot racing and wrestling, the Olympic Games did not originate in Egypt.
