KFC stands for Kentucky Fried Chicken. The fast food chain was founded by Colonel Harland Sanders in the 1930s and was originally named Sanders Court & Cafe. However, as the restaurant chain expanded and became famous for its signature fried chicken recipe, it rebranded as Kentucky Fried Chicken in 1952. Today, KFC is a global fast food brand with over 23,000 locations in more than 140 countries. In addition to its original fried chicken, KFC also offers a variety of other menu items, from sandwiches and wraps to sides like mashed potatoes and coleslaw.
