Prior to becoming WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment), the franchise was called World Wrestling Federation (WWF) from 1979 to 2002. It was an American professional wrestling promotion that gained immense popularity and success during the 1980s and early 1990s. However, due to a trademark dispute with the World Wildlife Fund, the company rebranded itself as WWE in 2002. Despite the name change, WWE still remains one of the largest professional wrestling promotions globally with a loyal fan base.
