Cranberries are one of only a handful of commercially-farmed fruited that are native to North America. But the sweet relish cranberries that are thoroughly enjoyed at Thanksgiving are quite different from original tart fruit.

One of the only native fruits of North America often consumed during Thanksgiving and Christmas is the cranberry. Cranberries are tart, red berries that are usually cooked and sweetened to make sauces, jams, and desserts.

One of the only native fruits of North America often consumed during Thanksgiving and Christmas is the cranberry. The tart, bright red fruit has been a staple in traditional holiday meals for generations. Cranberries are typically used to make cranberry sauce, which is a sweet and tangy side dish that pairs well with turkey and other holiday dishes. The fruit is also used for baking, in drinks, and a variety of other recipes.
