Guy Fawkes' real first name was actually Guido. He was born in 1570 and was an English Catholic who became involved in the Gunpowder Plot of 1605. His plan to blow up the House of Lords in an attempt to assassinate King James I was discovered before it could be carried out, leading to his arrest and execution. Today, Guy Fawkes is remembered annually on November 5th in the UK with bonfires and fireworks, as a symbol of rebellion against authority.
