Modern humans, also known as Homo sapiens, first evolved in Africa. The earliest known fossils of Homo sapiens have been found in Eastern Africa, specifically in Ethiopia and Morocco, dating back to around 300,000 years ago. From there, Homo sapiens gradually spread throughout Africa and later to other continents, including Europe and Asia.
