In the 'Harry Potter' novels, Harry's godfather is Sirius Black. Sirius was a close friend of Harry's parents, and was the only member of the Order of the Phoenix to escape from Azkaban prison. He was also an Animagus, and could transform into a black dog.

In the 'Harry Potter' novels, Harry's godfather is Sirius Black. Sirius is introduced in 'Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban' as a close friend of Harry's parents, James and Lily Potter. He was wrongly accused of betraying the Potters to Voldemort and was imprisoned in Azkaban for over a decade. After his escape, he became a fugitive, but remained loyal to Harry and helped protect him throughout the series. He was tragically killed in the fifth book, 'Harry Potter and the Order of Phoenix'.
