Caribou is another name for the Rangifer tarandus, commonly known as the reindeer.
Reindeer are a species of deer native to the Arctic and Subarctic regions of Europe, Siberia, and North America. They are well-adapted to cold climates, and have a thick fur coat with two layers; a dense undercoat and longer guard hairs. Reindeer are usually found in herds and are herbivores, feeding on a variety of plants and lichens.
